The Stedman Brothers.

Founded by brothers Matt and Zack Stedman, Stedman Construction specializes in building exceptional custom homes on Martha’s Vineyard. Raised in Rhode Island, Matt and Zack were inspired by their grandfather, who taught them both the craft of building and the value of family. In 2012, they brought those lessons to the Island and launched Stedman Construction—quickly earning a reputation for quality, reliability, and a customer-first approach.

Martha’s Vineyard offers many choices when it comes to homebuilders, but Stedman Construction stands out for its unwavering commitment to craftsmanship, clear and consistent communication, and the timely delivery of every project. From initial concept to final details, they ensure that each home reflects the unique vision of its owner while meeting the highest standards of construction.

Today, Matt and Zack live in West Tisbury with their families, continuing to create beautiful, lasting homes rooted in integrity, precision, and personal pride.

Built on Integrity.
Defined by Quality.

At Stedman Construction, we believe that exceptional planning is the foundation of every successful project. Our team takes pride in anticipating potential challenges, fostering strong relationships with trusted island subcontractors, and approaching each build with foresight and precision.

Our reputation speaks for itself. Every project we take on comes through word of mouth. That trust is earned through our commitment to delivering beautifully crafted spaces, completed on time, on budget, and with uncompromising workmanship. For us, a satisfied client isn’t just the goal, it’s the standard.

We utilize industry-standard contracts from the American Institute of Architects (AIA), ensuring a transparent billing process that keeps costs clear and controlled throughout the life of your project.

We love how the organic, textured concrete tub offsets the crisp lines of vertical paneling and intricate geometric floor tile.

Exposed reclaimed ceiling beams and a weathered-wood antique console table bring decades of character into a freshly built island room. Proof that patina can`t be rushed.

A quiet moment carved out of a grand space. Soft linen upholstery and the natural warmth of a stone fireplace create a perfectly serene, cozy retreat.

on time and on budget.

We have done numerous projects over the years with other builders and Stedman construction by far was our best experience. They delivered an incredibly high quality product on time and on budget. They were transparent throughout the process and a pure joy to work with.

Adam M.

done with excellence.

The work was done with excellence, and was on schedule (yes we are real customers and I am talking about work done on Martha’s Vineyard!); the communication around budget, choices that needed to be made, materials…was clear and thoughtful.

Demond M.

resourceful solutions.

When challenges arise, of which there can be many with the antique renovations, they have been most resourceful in presenting real time solutions while not compromising the design or schedule.

Whit F.

talented craftsmen.

Talented craftsmen with a keen sense of design, Matt and Zack were able to steer us in the right direction. Our cute summer home has turned in to a stunning showpiece! We are thrilled with the result!

Stedman Construction is a first-class operation. It’s our second large-scale project with them in 2 years and both times we have found them to be reliable, thoughtful and communicative at every turn.
